Here to Listen

I have lived in Colorado since moving here for college at Colorado State University in 1992. My family and I greatly enjoy beautiful Colorado. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota, from a very large extended family. I spend most of my free time with my two amazing daughters, their families, and our dogs. We love doing all kinds of family activities together. I am very passionate about photography, Mental Health awareness, Advocating and being an Ally, writing, arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
I believe that no two people are alike, and that everyone has a story to tell and needs support in different ways. As your story unfolds, I would like to be here to support and guide you along the journey. Through processing, challenging negative and old belief systems, addressing trauma , understanding moods, learning coping skills and working towards behavior change I will help you to heal, learn to cope, find supports, and meet your goals.
I have a very eclectic approach to counseling, I try to honor the process with each person to meet every persons specific needs. I utilize several counseling techniques, approaches, and orientations within my therapy sessions. These might include cognitive behavioral, Internal; Family Systems therapy, Attachment Theory, ACT, EMDR, rational-emotive, reality therapy, narrative therapy, play therapy, solution-focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing approaches.
I hold a Masters degree from Colorado State University, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado, and a National Certified Counselor. I am a trauma informed therapist. I am also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDRII) which is a type of therapy specifically used to treat trauma, PTSD, nightmares, anxiety, depression, flashbacks, or any other type of current or repressed memory of a trauma that still affects daily life functioning. In addition, I am trained in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which is often used to treat depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse and for the treatment of self harm and decreasing suicidal ideation. I am also trained in play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy and narrative therapy. With an eclectic approach to therapy, I try to honor the process that happens with each person and meet his or her specific needs.
